Ratchaburi, Thailand – A monk drowned after his car was swept into a pond by a flash flood near Wat Nong Ta Net during heavy rain; a 36-year-old driver and another monk survived.

A brown Toyota Camry, license plate ภม-751 กทม., was carried by a flash flood from a flooded access road into a pond located in front of Wat Nong Ta Net. The incident occurred during intense rainfall.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Sukit Tanjaroen from the Chom Bueng Police Station coordinated rescue efforts and personally arrived at the scene, where heavy rain persisted. The vehicle was pulled into the pond by the powerful current.

Three individuals were inside the car: two monks and a 36-year-old temple student who was driving. The car was en route from Wat Phu Khae to Wat Nong Ta Net, a journey of approximately three kilometers.
Reverend Bancherd, a 60-year-old monk, could not swim and sank with the vehicle. He tragically drowned despite rescue attempts. The other occupants managed to escape.

Divers from the Pathom Borom Ratchanusorn and Prachanukul Ratchaburi foundations searched the pond for about an hour until they found the deceased monk’s body. The community rallied to assist in the search efforts.
