Man caught smoking cannabis at Nakhon Nayok hospital

Police find knife and homemade bong, release him after warning as he visits sick mother

NAKHON NAYOK, Thailand – A 24-year-old man caught smoking cannabis on hospital grounds was let off with a warning after police found a knife and a homemade bong in his bag.

He was visiting his sick mother at Nakhon Nayok Hospital. Officers discovered him at a marble table near the hospital canteen and questioned him.

Police find cannabis, knife and hidden smoking device

When they searched his bag, officers seized a packet of cannabis and a knife. The man then showed them a smoking device hidden under a tree by the hospital wall.

It was a modified plastic bottle that resembled a water pipe for cannabis. Police confiscated all the items.

Security reports incident

Hospital security alerted the city dispatch centre in Nakhon Nayok about the man. He had been sitting at a stone table next to the obstetrics building and smoking cannabis there.

Staff feared the man could pose a danger to people in the hospital. Police sent a patrol to check on him.

Man apologises to officers

The man, identified only by the pseudonym Mr A, admitted to smoking cannabis at the hospital. He apologised to police and said he would not do it again.

He was at the hospital to visit and care for his sick mother, who was an inpatient there. Officers noted his explanation.

No further action against the man

After the conversation, he received only a warning. The 24-year-old apologised for the incident and was allowed to leave the hospital.

Police kept the cannabis, the knife and the homemade smoking device. The man said he would not smoke cannabis on hospital grounds in future.
