CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A 45-year-old Chinese man beat his 38-year-old wife to death after a friend called from China to say she was cheating. Police arrested him at the rented home.
The attack happened around 12:10am on August 2 in a house in the Chang Phueak district. Officers found the woman unconscious in an upstairs bedroom. Paramedics tried CPR but she was declared dead at the scene.
Friend’s call triggers deadly rage
The couple had only moved into the house about a month ago with their child. The child attends an international school in Thailand, and the parents wanted to be nearby.
According to the newspaper DailyNews, the child witnessed the violent attack.
Husband admits hitting wife, denies murder
The 45-year-old told investigators he hit his wife. He acted out of jealousy after a friend from China told him about the alleged affair.
But the man denied any intention to kill. Police arrested him at the scene and filed a charge of assault resulting in death.
