The couple, staying at a Bo Phut resort, had set out on Monday to experience the island’s natural beauty at the popular Na Muang 2 waterfall. After reaching the upper area, the man, identified as Alexis, wanted to take a picture and stepped back to get a better angle. On the wet, slippery rocks he lost his balance, with fatal consequences.

His wife saw her husband plunge into the depths below. The emergency call reached police at 11:30 a.m., and officers later found the distraught woman at the base of the waterfall. Their holiday, which had begun in joy, ended in a nightmare that was expected to change her life forever.
