PATHUM THANI, THAILAND – Four people were killed and several others injured in a serious collision between a car and a motorcycle in Pathum Thani after Songkran celebrations.
Accident site and emergency response
The crash occurred on 13 April 2026 near the entrance to the Tambon Na Mai Administrative Organization on the Taling Chan–Suphan Buri Road towards Lat Bua Luang in Lad Lum Kaeo district, Pathum Thani province. A car hit a motorcycle, overturned and came to rest badly damaged on its roof.
Police, a doctor from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, rescue workers from Lad Lum Kaeo Hospital and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene after the incident was reported. They secured the area and began attending to the injured and documenting the crash site.
Overturned car and its occupants
At the scene, officers found a Honda car with license plates from Ayutthaya that had overturned and was lying destroyed on its roof. The impact left the vehicle extensively damaged.
Six people had been inside the car. Two of them died at the scene: the 20-year-old driver, whose name was partially withheld by police, and a 23-year-old passenger. The remaining occupants suffered varying degrees of injury.
Further victims and injured passengers
Four other people from the car were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Emergency teams worked to stabilize them before transfer.
Later it emerged that a 21-year-old man who had been taken to Pathum Thani Hospital died from his injuries, raising the death toll from the crash to four. Authorities recorded the updated casualty figures as part of the ongoing investigation.
Motorcycle in roadside ditch: rider dead, passenger hurt
Around 30 meters from the wrecked car, officers discovered a Honda MSX motorcycle with license plates from Nakhon Nayok lying in water at the roadside. The vehicle had come to rest in a drainage area off the main carriageway.
The 21-year-old motorcycle rider was found dead. His girlfriend, who had been riding as a passenger, was injured and taken to hospital for medical care.
Survivor’s account: return from Songkran
A 19-year-old survivor from the car told police that she had been on her way home to Lat Bua Luang with five friends after playing with water for Songkran in the Sombat Buri area of Nonthaburi province. They were travelling by car when the collision occurred.
According to her statement, the stretch of road where the crash happened was very dark and there was no street lighting. She said she saw the motorcycle swerving at close range and that the driver of the car could no longer brake in time, leading to a violent impact.
Investigation: evidence, interviews and CCTV
Police photographed the scene in detail to preserve evidence for the investigation. Officers said they would question the injured survivors again in more detail once their condition allowed.
They also planned to review footage from nearby CCTV cameras to clarify the exact cause of the crash. The bodies of those who died were released to their relatives for religious funeral rites.
