PATTAYA, THAILAND – A foreign woman was seriously injured after falling from a hotel building in Pattaya in the early hours of 15 March, prompting a police investigation into whether alcohol played a role.
Alarm raised at 4:05 a.m. in Soi Bong Koch 8
At 4:05 a.m., the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Radio Centre received a report of a fall from a great height at a hotel in Soi Bong Koch 8. Volunteer rescue workers coordinated with officers from the Pattaya City Police Station and travelled together to the scene in Pattaya City, Chon Buri province.
Upon arrival, the teams began searching the hotel grounds for the reported victim. They focused their efforts around the multi-storey building mentioned in the emergency call.
Woman found in bushes beside eight-storey building
Rescuers located the woman in bushes next to the eight-storey hotel, where she was believed to have landed in the vegetation after the fall. Emergency personnel estimated that the foreigner was between 30 and 40 years old, according to official information from the scene.
Authorities reported that there was a strong smell of alcohol in the area where she was found. The woman appeared to be heavily intoxicated, officials later noted.
Challenging rescue and urgent hospital transfer
Because the woman lay in a hard-to-reach position among the bushes, rescue workers and police initially struggled to reach her safely. They worked together to stabilise the area and access the injured person.
After first aid and stabilisation on site, she was urgently transported to a hospital for further medical treatment. Her condition continued to be monitored there, police said.
Security guard heard impact and called for help
A hotel security guard told investigators he had heard a sound during his shift that resembled a large object crashing into the bushes.
“When I went to check, I found the injured woman calling for help, so I immediately called the emergency number.”
said the security guard, according to the police account.
He remained at the scene as rescue teams arrived and provided them with information about what he had heard and seen.
Police suspect fall from fourth floor
After initial checks, police believed the woman had fallen from the fourth floor of the hotel. Officers considered it possible that alcohol had contributed to the incident.
According to authorities, the woman appeared drunk and was unable to give a coherent explanation for what had happened. Investigators therefore focused on clarifying the circumstances of the fall.
CCTV under review as identity withheld
Police were working with investigators to secure and review CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding area. The aim was to reconstruct the woman’s movements before the fall and determine whether any other persons were involved.
The woman’s name and nationality had not been released while the investigation continued and her condition in hospital was observed. Officials said further details would be provided once more information was available.
