PHETCHABUN, THAILAND – A fisherman found a mysterious body wrapped in wire in the Pa Sak River. The corpse showed burn marks and had no identification.
Prayad Koen Kaew, 76, made the grim discovery near the rice fields of Khlong Krabon village. He had been checking his fish trap and found it empty – then spotted a slick of oil on the water.
Body wrapped in wire with burn marks
The victim’s sex could not be determined. Wire was fastened to the body in several places, and police said there were traces of heat exposure.
Forensic investigators rushed to the riverbank to collect evidence. The cause of death remains unknown.
No fish in trap – then oil slick
Prayad regularly fishes in this stretch of the Pa Sak. When not a single fish appeared in his trap, he grew suspicious.
He pulled at the wire. At first he thought the object in the water was anything but a corpse – an oil layer covered the spot. He put the body back and notified the deputy village head.
No one missing in Khlong Krabon
No one is missing in the village.
said Prayad Koen Kaew, the fisherman.
Police from Nong Phai received the tip on August 13, 2026 and searched the river section. Where the body washed up from is still unclear.
Tattoo pattern on neck
A tattoo pattern could be seen on the back of the dead person’s neck. It may help identify the victim.
Forensic officers scoured the riverbank for clues. Who the person is, where they came from, and how they ended up in the Pa Sak remains a mystery.
