Police Catch Unlicensed Dentist in the Act
Officers from the Consumer Protection Police Division storm a clinic in Sathon, Bangkok, after reports of illegal dental work.
They find 26-year-old Bee, mid-procedure, removing plaque from a patient’s teeth.
Bee admits she graduated from a dentistry faculty in Thailand but never took the licensing exam.
Instead, she forges another dentist’s licence to secure work and has been treating patients at multiple clinics for over two years.
Repeat Offender Faces Serious Charges
A background check reveals this is not Bee’s first offence.
She was previously arrested in August last year for the same crime but allegedly resumed her illegal practice soon after.
Police charge Bee with practising dentistry without a licence under the Dental Profession Act.
She faces up to three years in prison, a fine of up to 60,000 baht, or both.
The clinic operator is also charged for allowing unlicensed dental work, risking up to two years in prison and a 40,000 baht fine.
Health Risks and Official Warnings
Authorities warn that unlicensed dental treatment can lead to infection and dangerous mistakes.
“Always verify your dentist’s credentials on the Dental Council’s website before treatment,” urges Police Major General Kongkrit Lertsitthikul.
