The tremor occurred at 3:07 AM on June 15, with its epicenter located in Myanmar. The earthquake’s shallow depth of only five kilometers contributed to its noticeable impact on the surface. The event woke residents in several districts along the Thai border region.

Some individuals were unsure if they had experienced an earthquake. In Tambon Suthep, an apartment resident on the fourth floor described an extremely brief and mild tremor.

“It was very light, very short, 2-3 seconds, so you didn’t know if it was one. That it was dizziness is rather unlikely,”

the authorities quoted a resident. In Tambon Nong Pa Khrang, someone on the seventh floor felt a sofa sway and window panes vibrate.

Keine Schäden nach dem nächtlichen Schreck

Despite accounts of shaking furniture and trembling floors, there have been no reported structural damages. No injuries have been reported either. The Thai Meteorological Department classified the tremors as light and did not anticipate aftershocks. Following the brief nighttime disturbance, tranquility returned to the border communities.
