Durian Boss Drops Bounty on Son’s Mistress in Chumphon

Chumphon Durian Tycoon Cancels Bounty, Cuts Ties With Son

A prominent Chumphon durian warehouse owner, Arnon Rodthong, stuns locals by cancelling a controversial bounty on his son’s mistress and publicly disowning his son. The move follows a viral social media storm and mounting legal concerns.

Viral Facebook Post Sparks Outrage

Arnon Rodthong, owner of Panon and Pa On Durian Warehouse in Lang Suan district, took to Facebook offering 30,000 baht to anyone who physically assaulted his son’s mistress, On. He insisted the reward would stand until On ended her relationship with his son.

The post quickly spread online, dividing opinion. Some praised Arnon for defending his daughter-in-law, while others condemned the call for violence and questioned its legality. Critics warned the post could violate the Computer Crime Act.

Arnon Admits Mistake, Cancels Reward

Speaking to local media, Arnon admits, “I might have breached the law, but I only wanted to protect my family and my daughter-in-law’s dignity.” He later deletes the post and issues a new statement.

“I hereby officially cancel the attack reward. Many people I respect have urged me not to use violence or set a bad example,” Arnon writes. He announces he is severing ties with his son, Chai, and will reclaim all assets placed in Chai’s name, transferring them to his granddaughter.

Family Rift Goes Public

Arnon’s updated post details his decision to disown his son and redistribute family wealth. He says, “I forgive him and let him go,” adding that some assets may be donated to charity after his death.

He concludes by saying he will no longer give interviews and wishes to live out his later years in peace.

The incident puts a spotlight on the responsibilities of public figures in Thailand. Arnon’s actions, while dramatic, highlight the risks of using social media to resolve private disputes. The main keyword, “durian boss,” now carries a new meaning in Chumphon, as the family drama continues to spark debate online.
