PATTAYA, THAILAND – A heavily intoxicated driver crashed into a parked car after the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival, flipping her own vehicle and blocking the road.
Crash in early hours after festival
According to police, the collision occurred at about 4.16 a.m. on Soi Siam Country Club in front of the Raiwan Nasin Market, only a few hours after the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival. Rescue units from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan arrived to find a red Suzuki Swift lying on its side and heavily damaged.
Driver freed from wreck, slightly injured
The 42-year-old driver, Supap Fukuda, was trapped inside and had to be freed by emergency personnel. Rescue workers stated she suffered only minor injuries but showed clear signs of severe intoxication, noting a strong smell of alcohol and slurred, incoherent speech.
A short distance away, responders found a black MG sedan with its rear section badly crushed from the impact. The 32-year-old owner, Parinya Noi Jinda, told police he had parked the car by the roadside to go shopping at the market.
“When I came back, all I could see was the wreckage,”
said Parinya, the vehicle owner.
Admission of heavy drinking at fireworks event
According to the police report, Supap Fukuda admitted she had been drinking heavily at the fireworks festival in Pattaya and was on her way home. She told officers she had not seen the parked car and had driven “straight into it,” causing her Suzuki to overturn.
Police administered a breath alcohol test at the scene and initiated procedures for a charge of drunk driving. The driver was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and further examination.
Significant damage and vehicle inspections
Both vehicles were towed from the scene for detailed inspection. Initial assessments indicated substantial property damage to the two cars involved in the crash.
Authorities said the incident would form part of ongoing efforts to monitor alcohol-related traffic offences around major events. Further legal steps were expected following the results of the medical and breath test evaluations.

Officials used the case to reiterate the dangers of drunk driving, especially around large-scale nighttime celebrations such as the two-day Pattaya International Fireworks Festival. They urged road users to rely on safer alternatives after drinking, including designated sober drivers, taxis and ride-hailing services.
Emergency responders at the scene stressed that only such measures could effectively reduce the risk of serious early-morning crashes after major events.
