CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A 30-year-old American DJ was arrested mid-performance in a Chiang Mai nightclub for working without the necessary permit.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight, when authorities entered an entertainment venue on Charoen Rat Road in the Muang district. The DJ, identified as Eick Alberto, was actively performing behind the DJ booth.
According to Thai law, performing as a DJ is considered work that requires official authorization. Alberto was allegedly engaged in this activity without the stipulated permit for foreigners in Thailand.
The tourist police confirmed that Alberto was caught performing his duties as a DJ without the proper legal documentation. Illegal employment of foreigners is a persistent issue authorities are actively addressing, and this operation was a targeted enforcement action.
No Work Permit, No Play
