BANGKOK, Thailand – Chulalongkorn University has surged in global sustainability rankings, securing an impressive 19th place worldwide. This places the university as the sole institution from Thailand within the top 20 globally, the top 10 in Asia, and the top 5 within ASEAN states.

The ascent in the new “Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026” represents a significant achievement. Chulalongkorn University advanced an impressive 24 positions compared to its standing in 2025. The results, released on June 24, highlight the university’s strongest performance to date in this evaluation.
Zweites Jahr in Folge Thailands Nummer 1
This success not only solidifies the elite university’s top position within Thailand but also marks the second consecutive year it has held the number one spot domestically. Among the nearly 1,700 institutions evaluated from 116 countries, no other Thai establishment came close to matching this achievement.
Punkten mit Gesundheit, Innovation und Meeresschutz
Judges were particularly impressed by Chulalongkorn University’s practical impact, with high scores awarded for its contributions to Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, followed closely by Health and Well-being and Life Below Water. The ranking assesses how seriously universities integrate the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations into their research, teaching, and campus operations.
Sechs weitere Unis in den Top 100
Beyond the leading institution, several other Thai universities also demonstrated strong performances. Thammasat University secured 46th place, with Walailak University following at 47th, and Chiang Mai University at 49th. Mahidol University (56th), Prince of Songkla University (81st), and Khon Kaen University (91st) also earned spots within the world’s top 100 universities in this sustainability assessment.

A total of 1,646 universities from 116 countries participated in this year’s survey, all measured against the 17 global sustainability goals. The ranking, formerly known as the “THE Impact Rankings,” is considered the foremost global benchmark for the societal responsibility of higher education institutions.
