PRAN BURI, Thailand – A burglar ripped a bolted safe from the wall of a foreign businessman’s home in Pran Buri district. He took 14 designer bags, documents, passports, jewellery and other valuables worth millions of baht.
The break-in happened in the Wang Phong sub-district at the home of Kornchawan and her foreign husband Reiner. The couple were not home at the time.
A housekeeper discovered the crime. Officers found signs of forced entry at a bathroom door and a cut mosquito net. Investigators believe the suspect got in through there.
Thief rips out wall-mounted safe
The burglar tore a safe attached to both a wall and a door frame and carried it away whole. Stolen items included 14 designer bags and several key documents.
Among the missing papers are land title deeds, vehicle registration documents for a Toyota C-HR, an electric car and a motorcycle. The haul also includes multiple cheques, two German passports, one Thai passport, gold jewellery, a luxury watch and house keys.
Police check fingerprints and CCTV
Kornchawan filed a complaint at Pran Buri Police Station on August 7. Forensic teams examined the house for evidence, including latent fingerprints.
Officers are also reviewing footage from security cameras along nearby roads. The homeowner has offered a reward for information leading to the thief’s arrest and the return of the stolen property.
Appeal to local dealers
Kornchawan asked neighbours and businesses to report anyone trying to sell items matching the stolen goods. She specifically urged second-hand shops, pawnshops and stores that buy used designer bags to stay alert.
Meanwhile, police in Phuket are hunting a separate burglar. At a luxury home whose owner was abroad, the thief stole 40 baht-weight of gold – around 600 grammes – and more than three million baht in cash.
