SI SAKET, THAILAND – A British man wanted for serious domestic violence allegations in his home country was arrested in a remote district near the Cambodian border.
Arrest on rural roadside
The suspect, identified by police only as Nicholas, was detained on 26 December on a road in Kantharalak district of Si Saket province, according to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). The border region with Cambodia was described as rural and remote, and investigators said the man had allegedly been hiding there for some time.
Alleged abuse and forced medication
Investigators stated that the Briton was wanted in the United Kingdom over several alleged offences linked to domestic violence, including unlawful detention and assault against his wife. Police said he had allegedly struck her with a soft air gun or imitation firearm and with a glass, and forced her to swallow more than 100 tablets of various medications before fleeing the country.
International manhunt since 2022
Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) had located the suspect in Thailand, where he was believed to have been in hiding since 2022, and then requested assistance from Thai authorities. The CIB said Thai police launched a targeted search operation that ultimately led to the man’s arrest.
Criminal Court warrant and charges
Authorities said the Briton was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court on 3 December 2025. The warrant covered allegations including controlling or coercive behaviour towards an intimate partner, deliberate administration of poisonous or dangerous substances, causing actual bodily harm, assault more broadly and damage to property, reflecting strengthened domestic violence offences in the UK that address psychological control and coercion.
Suspect denies allegations
During questioning, Nicholas denied the accusations, and police said he maintained that the allegations were untrue. He was nevertheless handed over to prosecutors after the initial investigation, and authorities said preparations were under way for his extradition to the United Kingdom.
Police cite legal cooperation with UK
Thai police stressed that the proceedings were conducted under existing cooperation with British law enforcement agencies.
“We acted on the basis of the international request for legal assistance.”
said investigators, according to police sources.
