BANGKOK, THAILAND – A Bangkok criminal court convicted media company JKN Global Group and its chief executive Jakkaphong of joint fraud over the sale of corporate bonds.
Conviction of media company and CEO
The Bangkok South District Court delivered its verdict on 26 December against JKN Global Group Pcl and CEO Jakkaphong, an internationally known trans woman and media executive. The court found both defendants guilty of joint fraud under the Criminal Code.
The court imposed a fine of 40,000 baht on JKN Global Group, equivalent to about 1,290 US dollars. Jakkaphong received a prison sentence of two years without suspension.
Allegations over bond sales
According to the court documents, the case was brought by Dr. Raweewat Maschamadol. He accused the defendants of inducing him to buy corporate bonds through false statements and by withholding essential facts.
The court found that between 24 July and 8 August 2023, the defendants persuaded the plaintiff to invest in these bonds even though, in the court’s view, they knew the company was in a financial position that made repayment impossible. The court ruled that the defendants thereby deprived the plaintiff of 30 million baht.
Absence at sentencing and arrest warrant
Jakkaphong did not appear in court for the announcement of the verdict. An arrest warrant had already been issued for her on 25 November 2025 after she failed to attend a scheduled sentencing hearing at the South Bangkok Criminal Court on Charoen Krung Road.
The court treated her earlier absence as an indication that she intended to evade the judicial process and ordered her arrest. She was also absent when the decision was handed down on 26 December.
From global prominence to defendant
Jakkaphong had gained international recognition after taking over the Miss Universe Organization and establishing herself as a prominent media entrepreneur. In recent years, however, her legal and financial problems had escalated significantly.
The prison sentence and the fine against JKN Global Group marked another peak in this development. There was initially no statement from the defendant in response to the judgment.
Debate on accountability
The case raised questions about how investors could be misled and how firmly courts would respond. It also prompted discussion over whether the ruling sent a broader signal to Thailand’s business elite or remained a high-profile individual case.
“International stage, big deals, glittering titles – and then the deep fall. What happens when investors are deceived and courts crack down harder than expected?”
said the commentary section of the original report.
“Is this ruling a signal to Thailand’s economic elite – or just an isolated case wrapped in prominence? What do you think: turning point or exceptional judgment?”
said the same commentary, reflecting the open debate surrounding the verdict.
