KANCHANABURI, THAILAND – Cops busted a 50-year-old motorcycle taxi driver for trafficking girls under 15 into hotel prostitution, pocketing 500 baht per job.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Division arrested the suspect on August 6. He allegedly drove girls under 15 to hotels and took a 500 baht cut from each transaction, according to investigators.
Bike taxi used as cover
The man worked as a regular motorcycle taxi driver in Kanchanaburi city. Police received a tip that he used the job to transport and arrange girls under 15 into hotels across the area.
Officers gathered evidence after the tip and obtained an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court. The warrant, number 3007/2569, was issued on May 25, 2569.
Arrested on hotel car park
Cops nabbed the suspect on the car park of a hotel in Tha Makham sub-district, Mueang district. Police Major General Wittaya Sriprasertphap, head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Division, ordered the operation.
Police Colonel Alongkot Kotkaew, head of Subdivision 5, and Police Major Pansawadee Kloirayab from Subdivision 5 also took part.
Suspect confessed, say cops
During questioning, the 50-year-old admitted to the charges, police said. He told investigators he kept 500 baht from each girl’s payment as his commission.
The Criminal Court warrant includes charges of human trafficking, arranging girls under 15 for prostitution, supporting and facilitating child prostitution, and sexual abuse of minors.
Investigation widens to find more victims
After the arrest, officers handed the suspect to investigators in Subdivision 5 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Division. They will continue the criminal proceedings against him.
Authorities have expanded the investigation to locate and protect other victims, police said.
