PATTAYA, THAILAND – A baker in Nongprue reported that a local cowherd had threatened customers and residents with stones and a blade-like weapon outside his shop.
Confrontation outside neighborhood bakery
In the evening on Soi Phonprapha Nimit 1 in the Nongprue subdistrict of Bang Lamung, bakery owner Athit Chomsawat said an argument broke out suddenly with a cowherd who lives at the end of the lane. According to the 39-year-old, there had been no prior personal disputes before the incident.
Athit stated that loud shouting from the rear of the soi first drew his attention. Concerned about the situation, he went outside to look.
“I think we accidentally made eye contact,”
said Athit Chomsawat, bakery owner.
“The man immediately started shouting, insulting me and exposing his genitals while yelling, ‘What the f* are you looking at?’”

Children and seniors caught up in escalating row
The dispute escalated quickly, Athit reported. At the time, children and older people were inside the bakery, so he said he closed and locked the shop’s metal gate for safety.
The cowherd then allegedly rushed toward the front of the bakery, continued shouting obscenities and began throwing stones over the fence into the property. Athit said he contacted the man’s relatives, who told him the suspect was considered a chronic burden within the family and advised him to call the 191 police emergency number.
No patrol arrives, brother steps in
Despite the emergency call, no patrol appeared at the scene, according to Athit. Instead, only the suspect’s older brother arrived and initially calmed the situation.
The cowherd then reportedly fled toward the back of the soi. After the brother left the area, the man returned and, Athit said, resumed the harassment from the front.
Blade-like weapon pushed through metal fence
During a second confrontation at the gate, the suspect repeatedly thrust a blade-like weapon through openings in the metal fence and threatened customers, Athit recounted. He described repeated jabs of a sharp object through the fence, verbal threats against customers whose parked vehicles blocked the way, and a heightened risk for children, families and seniors in and around the bakery.
“He shouted that he would ‘take care of’ anyone if customers parked in his way again,”
said Athit Chomsawat, bakery owner. Fearing for his family and customers, he secured CCTV footage from cameras around the premises.
Police complaint filed and evidence handed over
On the night of 7 December, Athit formally filed a complaint at Nongprue Police Station. At 11:36 p.m., he handed the video footage to duty investigator Pol. Lt. Suphakit Kasudom as evidence.
“I just want the authorities to patrol here and do something before someone is seriously injured,”

Police accepted the complaint and announced a further investigation. No arrest had been reported at the time of publication.
Neighborhood safety concerns in side streets
The case raised questions about public safety in densely populated residential and commercial areas around Pattaya. Small businesses in side streets often rely on a rapid response from law enforcement when conflicts escalate.
Residents and business owners in Nongprue were closely following the progress of the case. Whether criminal charges would be brought against the cowherd depended on the ongoing investigation and evaluation of the submitted evidence.
