SURAT THANI, Thailand – A foreign resident on Koh Samui is demanding an end to what he describes as a seven-month ordeal of sleep deprivation caused by crowing roosters. On June 24, he submitted a formal complaint to the local administration, seeking an end to the incessant noise.
Sleep Robbery from 3 AM
The submitted complaint details that the daily noise begins in the middle of the night. Around 3 AM, approximately three roosters in the Mae Nam neighborhood reportedly begin to crow loudly.
The disturbance does not end after a few minutes. According to the complaint, the birds crow on average every three minutes, transforming the early morning hours into a continuous disruption.
Exhaustion and Dark Circles
The complainant reports severe health consequences stemming from the persistent noise. He experiences significant sleep deprivation and symptoms of exhaustion.
The strain of the situation appears to be physically visible. The man complains of dark circles under his eyes and physical stress symptoms, which he attributes to the seven months of disrupted rest.
Initial Investigations Yielded Nothing
This is not the first attempt to resolve the issue. The resident had previously reported the problem to local authorities, prompting officials to inspect the area.
However, the crowing persisted. It was precisely for this reason that the man escalated the matter to a formal complaint, insisting on further action from the Koh Samui administration.
Authorities Reviewing, Residents Watching
A detailed public statement from the local authorities has not yet been issued. Reports indicate that the matter is currently under review.
What specific actions will be taken or if mediation between neighbors is planned remains uncertain. The case has already generated considerable attention on social media.
