Pathum Thani, Thailand – A 59-year-old German man was found dead in his home on Sunday morning, with police investigating the apparent suicide.
Frank Wolk, who had been living in Thailand for over ten years, was discovered deceased by his daughter. He worked remotely as a programmer and was described as a reclusive individual. Details of the events preceding his death are now being examined by authorities.
Daughter found him in former servant’s room
At approximately 11:32 a.m., the man’s daughter found him lifeless, seated in a chair in a former servant’s room on the ground floor of his two-story house. A plastic bag was positioned over his head and connected to a nitrogen tank. The daughter had gone downstairs to do laundry. When she could not locate Wolk elsewhere in the house, she searched the entire property until she opened the secluded room. Rescue workers and forensic officials from the Ministry of Justice were alerted. The investigating officer, Pol. Maj. Namchok Duangsuwan of the Pak-Khlong-Rangsit Police, took charge of the case at the scene.
Note in German: “I don’t want anyone to help me”
A handwritten note was found at the scene. Police officers translated its contents: “Whoever finds me – I don’t want anyone to help me.” This clear wish is guiding the direction of the investigation. Wolk’s wife, Kanya, informed the police that her husband had appeared normal that morning. No unusual behavior had been reported by any of his contacts, neither his family in Germany nor a friend in Thailand with whom he had a long phone conversation the previous day.
A quiet man – no alarm, no sign
Kanya described her husband as introverted. He preferred to stay at home, working alone at his computer and maintaining minimal social contact outside of family. The day before his death, he had extensive phone calls, one with relatives in Germany and another with a friend in Thailand. Neither of these callers reported any concerns or unusual behavior afterward. Whether Wolk hinted at anything during these conversations or if the decision ripened in silence remains open for now. The police are analyzing his communications.
Body to forensic institute for autopsy
The deceased’s body was transported to the forensic institute of the Ministry of Justice. An autopsy is expected to determine the official cause of death. The investigation is ongoing. Wolk had been residing in Thailand for over a decade, working from home and, according to his wife, avoiding social interaction. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
