BANGKOK, THAILAND – Democrat Party candidate Anucha Burapachaisri campaigned in Khlong Chan on the morning of June 5, promising faster sidewalk renovations, more frequent garbage collection, and checks on foreign workers. He emphasized transparency as the core of a five-point program and hinted at upcoming campaign dates.
Morning Appearance in Khlong Chan Park
The event began at 7:00 AM in the Khlong Chan Botanical Garden and at the market of the Khlong Chan housing blocks in Nawamin Soi 8. Anucha, accompanied by party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Deputy Chairman Sakoltee Phattiyakul, Chai-chana Dej-decho, advisor Ong-art Klampaiboon, and SK candidate Pratchaya Srisaard (Hanif, number 3), walked through the neighborhood.

Residents primarily raised concerns about cleanliness and blocked sidewalks, Anucha stated. He called for accelerating ongoing road construction work to reopen pedestrian paths.
Significant food waste accumulates, especially around the park, prompting his demand for more frequent garbage collection instead of the apparently weekly service. This aims to make the surroundings cleaner and market stalls more pleasant.
Review of Foreign Workers Announced
Anucha reported observing foreign workers and undocumented individuals in two to three locations, who might be using sublet commercial spaces. He announced that the situation would be reviewed to clarify whether those affected had rightful claims to the spaces or were misusing identities.
The review by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is intended to ensure order and prevent Thai vendors from being displaced. He believes such checks will significantly improve the situation.
Transparency as a Response to Corruption Allegations
The Democrat Party is presenting a five-point program centered on transparency and auditability. Anucha highlighted this as crucial for addressing issues related to the sale of positions, contract awards, and budget matters.
He referenced clear rules from the era of party leader Abhisit, emphasizing a commitment to honest political work. He stated that the same principles should apply to the administration of the BMA.
Local Representation and SK Candidates in All Districts
Present was Pratchaya Srisaard (Hanif), SK candidate number 3 for Bang Kapi. According to Anucha, SK candidates are contesting in all 50 districts.
