Bangkok, Thailand – Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) will raise the international passenger service charge to 1,120 baht starting June 20, directly impacting ticket prices.
Fee Increases by 390 Baht
AOT acknowledged that the increase, from 730 baht to 1,120 baht per traveler, will push airfares higher. President Paweena Jariyathitipong said the decision was thoroughly reviewed.

Implementation at Six Airports on June 20
The new fee takes effect at all six AOT-operated airports, including Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket. Despite the rise, AOT expressed confidence that travel demand would remain strong.
“It is unlikely that this will change passengers’ choice of destination.”
said Paweena.
More Funds for Expansion and New Terminals
Paweena cited AOT research and studies supporting the move, emphasizing that the hike complies with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards. She clarified that the revenue will be used exclusively for airport development, not to offset lost income from the end of King Power’s duty-free concessions.
Major Plans for Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang and Phuket
The increase is the steepest in the passenger service charge in nearly two decades. AOT is pursuing a large expansion program, including a 12 billion baht extension of Suvarnabhumi’s east terminal, a 20 billion baht ground rehabilitation for a future south terminal, a 30 billion baht third phase at Don Mueang, and a 10 billion baht first phase at Phuket.
Capacity to Reach 180 Million by 2034
Paweena noted that fuel costs have a greater impact on airfares. AOT has prepared measures to handle potential effects of global conflicts. By 2034, the combined capacity of AOT’s six airports is targeted to reach 180 million passengers annually.
