Pattaya, Thailand – A 7-year-old boy in Pattaya helped save a woman from hanging by quickly grabbing a knife for his mother. The 41-year-old was found unconscious in an apartment on Soi 5 Thanwa and rushed to hospital. She is now in stable condition.
Rescue in a Second-Floor Apartment
Rescuers from Sawang Boriboon were alerted on May 4 at around 9:40 p.m. and rushed to a second-floor apartment. There they found Dokbua Thonglao, 41, unconscious and barely breathing on a mattress in the room.
The helpers gave immediate first aid and then took her to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital. Every minute counted for the emergency team.
Mother and Son Hear No Answer
The apartment owner, Nada Buaprasertsuay, 42, had been contacted earlier by the woman’s husband. He asked her to check on his wife, fearing she might harm herself.
Buaprasertsuay went to the room with her 7-year-old son and called for the woman, but got no response. Using a spare key, she finally opened the door despite feeling unsure.
The Boy Hands Over the Knife
After entering, mother and son reportedly heard objects fall. Shortly after, they found the woman on the balcony at the back of the room.
A rope was around her neck, attached to a ventilation point in the bathroom. The boy quickly handed his mother a knife so she could cut the rope and bring the woman down safely before rescuers arrived.
Police Announce Interviews
According to authorities, the woman had been involved in a family dispute before the incident. Police plan to question those involved as part of their investigation. The boy was praised for his quick thinking, which made the rescue possible. The woman is now stable in hospital.
