Husband Leaves Wife for Monk After 23 Years

A Prachin Buri woman discovers her husband's alleged affair with a 30-year-old monk, rejecting his proposal for a threesome and fleeing with 6,000 baht.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, THAILAND – A wife from Prachin Buri has leveled serious accusations against her husband and a Buddhist monk. After 23 years of marriage, the man allegedly left her for a relationship with the clergyman.

Wife in Shock After Discovery

The woman unexpectedly discovered her husband’s alleged affair with the monk. She was particularly shocked by her husband’s demand that she accept a threesome with the clergyman.

She refused the offer and left the family home, taking only 6,000 Baht to start a new life.

Heavy Criticism on Social Networks

The case quickly spread via a Facebook page, sparking a heated online debate. Many users sharply criticized the behavior of the husband and the monk.

Commentators see the alleged relationship as a serious violation of monastic discipline. Public trust in the Buddhist clergy is now being called into question by the accusations.

Authorities Identify Wanted Monk

The Provincial Office of Buddhism in Nakhon Ratchasima identified the monk as 30-year-old Phra Phonchai. He was ordained in 2024 in the Phra Thong Kham district.

The monk is currently officially registered at a temple in Ubon Ratchathani province. Authorities are now investigating his whereabouts and the allegations against him.

Temple Distances Itself from Incidents

Phra Phonchai studied at Wat Bueng Phra Aram Luang in July 2025 but was not formally affiliated with the temple. He is registered in Det Udom district, Ubon Ratchathani province. A local monk described him as very withdrawn and not very sociable.

The leadership of Wat Bueng Phra Aram Luang clarified that the monk was not a permanent member of their clergy and had already left the temple in October 2025 after completing his studies.

said a representative of Wat Bueng Phra Aram Luang.

Investigations to Clarify Facts

Authorities are now coordinating with offices in Ubon Ratchathani for further steps. So far, officials have not been able to officially confirm the monk’s personal conduct.
