KOH KAEW, THAILAND – A motorcyclist died in an early-morning collision in Koh Kaew, after which the involved car went up in flames and police launched an investigation.
Crash around 3 a.m. outside local school
According to Phuket City Police, the accident occurred at about 3:00 a.m. in front of the Muslim Koh Kaew School in the Koh Kaew subdistrict. Officers from the Phuket City Police Station were notified of the collision and headed to the scene.
Police said the crash took place on the road section directly in front of the school. The area has been known as a busy traffic point in the subdistrict.
Motorcyclist dies after collision
At the scene, investigators determined that the motorcyclist had died following the collision with a car. The rider was pronounced dead on site by the responding authorities.
Initial findings suggested the motorcyclist might have lost control of the vehicle before the impact. The exact cause of the accident remained under active investigation by police.
Car hits utility pole and catches fire
After the collision, the involved vehicle veered onto the central median and crashed into a utility pole. A fire then broke out, engulfing the car.
Firefighting crews extinguished the blaze a short time later. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.
Police secure evidence and question witnesses
Authorities began securing evidence at the accident site in order to reconstruct the precise sequence of events. Witnesses were to be interviewed as part of the inquiry.
Police announced that they aimed to fully clarify the circumstances of the crash. They were also examining whether any legal consequences would follow from the findings.
