PATTAYA, THAILAND – A heavily intoxicated foreign tourist who fell asleep on a Jomtien sidewalk was rescued by city patrol officers and escorted safely back to his guesthouse.
Tourist found unconscious outside convenience store
On 21 January, officers of the Jomtien city administration received a concerned call about a man lying in front of a convenience store near the entrance to Soi Welcome Jomtien. He appeared to be in a deep sleep in the middle of the Jomtien Beach Road sidewalk, a dangerous spot for anyone, especially at night.
The response team was dispatched immediately to assess the situation and found a completely helpless and drunk holidaymaker. According to the report, the man was no longer responsive to normal attempts at communication.
Health checks and concern for his safety
Officers tried to wake and speak to the man, but he was so heavily intoxicated that he could not communicate clearly. His condition was described as worrying but not life-threatening, and responders first checked his vital signs to ensure his safety.
The next challenge was to find out how the man could be brought back to his accommodation and where he was staying at all. Without assistance, officials warned, he could potentially have been robbed, run over or injured.

With patience, the officers eventually managed to clarify the man’s identity and the details of his accommodation. He was staying at a guesthouse in Soi 7.
The city patrol then escorted the intoxicated tourist safely back to his guesthouse, and the operation concluded without further incidents. For the visitor, the night ended relatively mildly given the potential dangers he had faced.

Following the incident, authorities in Jomtien stressed their ongoing commitment to protecting residents and visitors.
