CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – A young woman celebrating her birthday in a Chiang Mai nightclub collapsed mid-dance and died shortly afterwards, prompting renewed concern over hidden heart conditions in young people.
Birthday celebration turns to tragedy
Around midnight, the woman was dancing in a club in Chiang Mai when she suddenly broke down. A video posted on Facebook by user “Max Wowwow” shows her final moments on the dance floor.
“You can see her briefly go down on her knees and then collapse,”
said an eyewitness.
Shocked cries can be heard in the background before the recording cuts off. Friends rushed to help as she fell mid-movement, but their efforts came too late.
Max and other club guests immediately began resuscitation attempts, performing chest compressions while an emergency call was placed.
“We took her straight to Lanna Hospital,”
said Max in his emotional post.
Doctors at Lanna Hospital could only confirm her death. An initial hospital assessment recorded extremely low blood sugar and dangerously low platelet counts, and the woman was breathing only weakly on arrival.
Doctors cite irregular heartbeat and call for vigilance
Medical staff later announced the precise cause of death: an irregular heartbeat had led to her sudden collapse.
“It was less severe than a complete cardiac arrest, but still fatal,”
explained the doctors.
This type of cardiac arrhythmia can occur without warning and often remains undetected in young people until a fatal incident occurs.
Max stressed that he did not share the video for sensational reasons, but as a warning message.
“Appreciate life, avoid trouble and conflict, and live every day to the fullest,”
he wrote, adding a final tribute to his girlfriend:
“I hope she rests in peace.”
The post quickly went viral and triggered a debate in Thailand about undiagnosed heart disease among younger generations. Doctors are urging regular check-ups, even for those who appear healthy, noting that unnoticed heart problems are not uncommon.
For the woman’s friends and family, only the memory of a final, fatal dance in a Chiang Mai club remains, underscoring how suddenly celebrations can turn deadly.
