PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 25-year-old woman was left critically injured after plunging from the fifth floor of an unfinished building in South Pattaya following a heated argument with her girlfriend late on 30 October 2025.
Late-night emergency call brings rescuers to construction site
Emergency services received a distress call at 23:06, reporting that someone had fallen from a high-rise structure along Pattaya South Road. Volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation were dispatched immediately. They found the woman, known only by her nickname “Jiab”, lying seriously injured behind the site, having fallen roughly 15 metres from the fifth floor of the half-constructed shophouse.
Paramedics administered emergency treatment at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital under high urgency. Officials later said her condition remained life-threatening.
Argument between partners led to tragedy
At the scene, police interviewed a 29-year-old woman identified as “Miao”, who introduced herself as Jiab’s girlfriend. Miao told investigators that an argument had erupted between the two earlier that evening, driven by jealousy and strong emotions.
According to her statement, Jiab had stepped out onto the balcony of the unfinished building to calm down. Moments later, Miao heard noises suggesting that Jiab had climbed over the railing.
Failed attempt to prevent the fall
Miao reportedly rushed toward her partner and tried to pull her back to safety. In her account, Jiab lost her grip and fell before she could be helped. The distraught woman immediately called for emergency assistance. Police noted that it was still unclear why both women had been inside the construction site that night.
Investigation into possible intent and negligence
The Pattaya Police opened an inquiry into what they described as a domestic altercation with tragic consequences. Officers are working to determine whether the incident was an accident, an attempted suicide, or a case of negligent behaviour leading to severe injury.
Investigators have examined the site for forensic evidence and have begun verifying Miao’s testimony. No official update has been released on Jiab’s medical status, though rescuers said her life was in grave danger when she was taken to hospital.
