PATTAYA, THAILAND – The Pattaya Demonstration Secondary School launched its 14th annual Ratchaphruek Games, bringing together students, teachers, and local officials for an event designed to promote health, unity, and discipline among young people.
Community Leaders Open the Event
The opening ceremony took place on October 31, 2025, at the school’s domed sports arena in Chonburi Province. Deputy Mayor Manoch Nongyai presided over the event, addressing students and faculty gathered for the occasion. He was welcomed by School Director Sornchai Khemkhaeng, who emphasized the school’s long-standing commitment to promoting student well-being through sports.
Encouraging Healthy and Responsible Lifestyles
Organizers said the Ratchaphruek Games aim to channel students’ energy into constructive competition. The initiative seeks to encourage physical activity, foster teamwork, and steer students away from substance abuse by offering positive, community-based activities.
Anakim KlinKesorn, President of the Student Committee, explained that the tournament is about more than sport.
“THE GAMES STRENGTHEN DISCIPLINE AND FRIENDSHIP, WHILE REMINDING US THAT FAIR PLAY BUILDS CHARACTER,”
he said.
Diverse Sports and Friendly Rivalries
Competition officially began on October 27, featuring nine sports:
• Futsal
• Volleyball
• Sepak takraw
• Swimming
• Table tennis
• 3×3 basketball
• Athletics
• Badminton
• Esports (Arena of Valor – ROV)
Participants competed under four traditional house colors — blue, green, purple, and pink — each representing a different team spirit within the school. Faculty members supported the students both as coaches and mentors.
Building Skills Beyond the Field
Beyond physical competition, the Ratchaphruek Games have become an educational highlight for Pattaya Demonstration Secondary School. Teachers noted that students learn leadership, time management, and cooperation skills — qualities considered essential for academic and personal growth.
