Bloody Domestic Dispute Shocks Phuket
A violent domestic incident unfolded in Phuket when a drunken husband shot his wife following a heated argument. The 45-year-old victim, Phatphassorn Kongmongkol, sustained a gunshot wound to her right arm and was rushed to the hospital. The perpetrator is now in police custody.
Emergency Call at 11:40 PM – Woman Shot
At approximately 11:40 PM on October 9, an urgent call was received by the 191 emergency center: a woman had been shot on Sri Suthat Road. Police and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation responded immediately.
Led by Police Colonel Chatree Chukaew, officers arrived at the scene to find Phakhawat Phumchan, visibly intoxicated. He promptly confessed to shooting his wife, Phatphassorn Kongmongkol, during an argument.
Victim Escapes to Bedroom
After being shot, Phatphassorn, 45, fled to a bedroom on the first floor. She was found with a gunshot wound to her right arm and in a state of shock. Emergency responders transported her to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment.
A search of the house uncovered the weapon used in the attack: a firearm with ammunition, locked in a safe in the suspect’s bedroom. Police seized the weapon as evidence.
Forensic Police Secure Evidence
Phuket’s forensic police were called in to gather additional evidence and reconstruct the circumstances of the shooting. It remains unclear whether the weapon was legally registered—a crucial detail for the ongoing investigation.
Phakhawat was arrested at the scene and taken to Phuket City Police Station. He now faces serious charges, including attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
Similar Case in Nonthaburi
Just days earlier, on October 6, a similar tragedy occurred in Nonthaburi: a police inspector allegedly shot his wife before turning the gun on himself, reportedly out of jealousy. The incident, which took place in a three-story townhouse in Bang Kruai district, highlights the recurring problem of domestic gun violence in Thailand.
