PATTAYA, THAILAND – A dispute between online content creators in the Soi 6 party zone escalated into violence, leaving two people injured and prompting a police investigation into a South Korean YouTuber.
Police probe after Soi 6 confrontation
The injured woman, Sukanlaya (22), and South Korean national Jihoon reported the incident to police and handed over CCTV footage and livestream recordings. They told officers they feared the case might not be properly pursued without public attention.
According to the material submitted, the alleged perpetrator, South Korean YouTuber Jung, formerly a close friend of Jihoon, appeared at the scene. The recordings documented the course of the altercation in which both victims were hurt before bystanders intervened and stopped the incident.
From broken friendship to livestream insults
Sukanlaya told authorities the conflict had stemmed from an increasingly strained personal relationship between the two men, who had once been close friends. On the day of the incident, she was informed that Jung was livestreaming in Soi 6 and making disparaging remarks about Jihoon.
In the livestream, Jung was said to have made critical comments about Jihoon’s personal decisions, prompting Jihoon to react in the chat and present his own view. What began as an online dispute then shifted from the digital space into the streets of Pattaya.
Online feud turns into street altercation
The online exchange developed into a heated back‑and‑forth that ended with an agreement to meet in person. According to the victims’ account, there was no real attempt at reconciliation at the meeting point, and the situation instead escalated immediately.
Police were examining whether the alleged attacker had planned the confrontation in advance. The livestream video from the time of the incident had since been removed from his YouTube channel, which investigators said made their work more difficult.
Formal complaint and possible criminal charges
The injured parties filed a formal criminal complaint, relying on video recordings, CCTV images and witness statements. They explicitly ruled out a private settlement and demanded that the case be fully pursued through the legal system.
Prosecutors were reviewing the available evidence and would decide on further steps. The alleged perpetrator could face charges of bodily harm and possibly additional offences, depending on the final assessment of the case.
Concerns over foreign influencers in nightlife areas
At the same time, the victims raised broader questions about oversight of foreign content creators in Thailand. They expressed concern that problematic behaviour by influencers could pose risks to tourists and residents, as well as to the sense of security in popular entertainment districts.
Observers noted that debate over regulating social‑media content and the conduct of foreign YouTubers in Thailand was not new. In recent months, there had been several incidents in which content creators clashed with local norms or laws through their behaviour.

The incident took place on 29 December 2025 in Pattaya and formed part of a series of disputes involving foreign visitors in the coastal city. Local authorities were monitoring these developments with concern.
Pattaya, a major destination for international tourists, has in recent years attracted a growing community of foreign content creators. The city now faces the challenge of maintaining a safe environment for everyone while remaining an open and attractive tourist hotspot.
Calls for consistent law enforcement
The victims called on police to act swiftly and pursue the case rigorously under criminal law. They said they hoped their case would send a signal and help prevent similar incidents in future.
Legal experts pointed out that Thai law contained clear provisions on bodily harm and that the offender’s nationality played no role in prosecution. The level of potential penalties would depend on the severity of the injuries and the precise circumstances of the offence.
Debate on responsibility of social media influencers
While livestreaming and social media were described as important platforms for expression and entertainment, questions were being raised about their limits. Digital‑media experts were discussing whether existing laws were sufficient or whether specific rules for social‑media activity in public spaces were needed.
Some argued that consistent application of current legislation was enough, while others called for additional guidelines tailored to content creators. Thailand’s tourism authorities had not yet commented officially on the case, but observers expected the series of incidents in Pattaya to intensify discussions about security measures and possible codes of conduct for influencers.
