BANGKOK, THAILAND – A foreign hotel guest died after falling from the 25th floor in Sukhumvit 24, prompting a police investigation into the cause.
Fatal fall in Sukhumvit 24
On 4 April, a foreign national died after a fall from the 25th floor of a hotel in central Bangkok. The incident occurred in Soi Sukhumvit 24 in the Khlong Toei district.
Police Lieutenant Panurut Limsangkad from Thonglor Police Station received the report and coordinated the initial response at the scene. Officers found the body in the building’s waste storage area.
Identity and findings at the scene
According to police, the deceased was identified as 38-year-old Hotesh Cham Dodani. Initial findings indicated that he had been staying on the 25th floor.
The location of the body and the visible evidence recorded by police pointed to a fall from a great height. More detailed medical information was expected only after the autopsy.
Evidence collection in the hotel room
In the man’s room, officers found several packs of medication. According to police statements, there were no signs of a struggle or theft.
Personal belongings also appeared to have been left untouched. These observations were to be considered in assessing what might have happened before the fall.
CCTV review and witness interviews
Investigators planned to review CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding area. In addition, they intended to question witnesses and people from the deceased man’s social circle.
The body was transferred for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Only the forensic results were expected to provide clarity about the circumstances.
Second case: Belgian man dies in Chon Buri
In a separate incident on 29 March, a 54-year-old Belgian man died after a fall from the roof of an eight-storey condominium in Na Kluea, Bang Lamung district in Chon Buri. Police and tourist police were alerted around 8 p.m. and found him near the building entrance.
Rescue workers immediately began first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. In his room, officers found numerous empty bottles of spirits and beer cans, and police reported no indications of any confrontation.
Witness account and embassy coordination
A security employee reportedly tried to talk to the man on the roof before he fell. Police were examining the circumstances in this case as well.
Authorities were coordinating with the Belgian embassy to inform the man’s relatives. Further details depended on the ongoing investigations.
