Turkish Tourist Dies After Fall in Phuket

Police ruled out foul play after a 45-year-old man fell from a pedestrian bridge above the Darasamut Tunnel in Wichit

PHUKET, THAILAND – A 45-year-old Turkish tourist died after falling from a pedestrian bridge in Wichit on Friday afternoon, with police ruling out foul play.

Emergency call at 12:08 p.m.

According to Wichit Police, an emergency call reached the 191 center at 12:08 p.m. reporting an unconscious man lying on the roadway at the entrance to the Darasamut Tunnel. Officers from Wichit Police Station arrived at the scene shortly after the alert.

Paramedics provided initial treatment to the injured man at the tunnel entrance. He was then transported to Bangkok Hospital Siriroj for further medical care.

Death confirmed in hospital

At the hospital, attending doctors declared 45-year-old Nadiroglu Zaur dead. Police stated that the Turkish national had fallen from the pedestrian bridge above the tunnel.

Police Colonel Somsak Thongkliang of Wichit Police Station confirmed the sequence of events and personally led the investigation. Authorities said they had opened an investigation file into the incident.

Items left on the bridge

Investigators found a black backpack and a mobile phone on the pedestrian bridge. Both items belonged to the deceased man, according to police at the scene.

“We are examining the exact course of events.”

said Police Colonel Somsak Thongkliang, Wichit Police Station chief.

Road briefly closed

The area at the tunnel entrance was temporarily closed to traffic after the fall. The closure was lifted once initial measures at the scene were completed.

Authorities confirmed there were no additional injuries and no property damage. They also stated that no foul play was involved in the incident, and the man’s identity was verified through documents he was carrying.

Police coordinate next steps

Wichit Police Station opened a formal case file and began coordinating follow-up procedures. The Turkish embassy in Bangkok and the man’s relatives were to be informed about the death.

The incident took place at the entrance to the Darasamut Tunnel, a busy connecting road in Wichit district in the south of Phuket Town. Police said further investigative steps would follow in line with standard procedure.
