Tourist Injured in Pattaya Beach Brawl

Payment dispute leads to fight, fines issued by police.

Pattaya, Thailand – A dispute over payment at Pattaya Beach on June 3 resulted in a brawl, leaving a 40-year-old Japanese tourist with a cut on his left eyebrow. Both parties involved were brought to the police station and fined 500 Baht each.

How the confrontation was reported

The conflict was reported around 00:49 near Pattaya Beach. Onlookers separated the individuals and escorted them to the Pattaya City Police Station. Several bystanders filmed the scene as the two argued loudly. The tourist sustained visible facial injuries, including a cut above his eye.

What the dispute was about

A 30-year-old Thai transgender woman stated she met the Japanese man on Walking Street and initially asked for 3,000 Baht for her company. As his hotel was approximately 1.5 kilometers away in Pattaya-Naklua, she offered a taxi. She later demanded 1,000 Baht for her time, which the apparently intoxicated tourist refused to pay.

How the fight broke out

The argument escalated on Pattaya Beach Road, with both sides reportedly exchanging blows until residents intervened. The verbal altercation continued at the police station until officers measured their volume and intervened. The police investigated the incident as a brawl and settled the case on-site with fines of 500 Baht each.

The transgender woman was released after paying the fine. The tourist was initially released without custody but was referred for further proceedings. Officers advised the injured Japanese man to seek medical treatment at a hospital and obtain a medical report. This report could serve as evidence. The police announced they would summon the woman again if the tourist filed additional charges after submitting the report.

Another separately reported case

Separately from the beach dispute, a transgender massage worker reportedly turned herself in to the police and returned 9,000 Baht that a Japanese tourist had reported stolen from his hotel room. The report does not explicitly link this theft to the brawl on Pattaya Beach, though both incidents involved a Japanese tourist.
