PATTAYA, THAILAND – A minor motorcycle collision in central Pattaya escalated into a violent street brawl between groups of European and Arab tourists, injuring a pregnant bystander.
Street fight near major shopping complex
The confrontation took place on Saturday evening at around 9 p.m. on South Pattaya Road, close to the TukCom Pattaya shopping building in Moo 10, according to police. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station responded after reports of a fight between foreign nationals on the roadway. At the scene they found two groups, including two European men – reportedly from either Iceland or Ireland – and an unspecified number of Arab nationals chasing and attacking one another as passers-by looked on.
Witness describes clash after motorcycle contact
A motorcycle taxi driver who witnessed the incident told police he saw the groups brush against each other with their motorcycles before the violence broke out.
“I don’t know the exact details, but after the collision they immediately started shouting loudly and then began hitting each other,”
said the motorcycle taxi driver, according to police. He and other riders tried to separate the men and called for help until emergency services arrived, with both sides sustaining injuries from punches.
Pregnant foreign woman caught in the violence
The situation became particularly serious for a pregnant foreign woman who was nearby and not involved in the dispute. Initial information indicated she was struck when she appeared to be trying to calm the agitated men. Rescue workers provided first aid at the scene and then transported her to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment, but no details on her condition were released.
Detentions and ongoing investigation
Police detained all clearly identifiable participants and took them to Pattaya City Police Station to clarify the background to the altercation. The names and exact identities of the men were not made public; officers said they appeared to be between 30 and 35 years old. Both groups claimed the other side was responsible for the accident and the subsequent fight.
CCTV and videos to determine fault
To determine liability, investigators planned to thoroughly question all those involved, review CCTV footage, examine videos recorded by bystanders, and analyze witness statements, particularly regarding the collision and the injury to the pregnant woman. Further legal steps were to be taken in line with applicable Thai law. Local media reported that video of the chaotic street fight existed and was considered potentially important evidence.

Authorities noted that such incidents could lead not only to criminal consequences for those involved, but also affect the sense of security in one of the country’s most important holiday destinations.
