BANGKOK, THAILAND – TIME named five Thai travel experiences to its World’s Greatest Places 2026 list, highlighting a Nan farm-stay and new cultural venues in Bangkok as signs of a shift toward distinctive, low-volume tourism.
Five Thai entries on a global top list
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), confirmed that five locations in the country were among the 100 places selected for the TIME ranking.
The list, published on 12 March, spanned rural retreats, luxury hospitality, rail travel and contemporary art destinations.
DaiDib DaiDee in Nan – farm life instead of TV scenery
Thapanee singled out DaiDib DaiDee as a particularly striking entry, describing it as a small farm-stay in Pua district in Nan province that focused on closeness to nature and the local community.
According to TIME’s contribution by freelance travel writer Johanna Read, the property was portrayed as an intimate off-grid stay where guests joined in with daily work on the farm and immersed themselves in slower-paced rural life.
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok – 150 years and a jubilee program
The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok made the list in part because it celebrated its 150th anniversary this year, according to TAT.
TIME emphasized the combination of traditional service with constant renewal, as well as the Unfolding Legacies jubilee program, which was scheduled to run until March 2027.
Blue Jasmine Train – nine days of luxury on rails
The Blue Jasmine Train was recognized as one of the country’s newest premium travel options: a nine-day journey between Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
Only 37 passengers travelled in restored historic sleepers, according to the description, with curated cultural stops and off-train activities included in the experience.
Khao Yai Art Forest – art meets regeneration
The Khao Yai Art Forest was honored as a project that combined contemporary art with land regeneration on an expansive open-air site near Khao Yai National Park.
TIME cited works such as the installation Fog Landscape #48435 by Fujiko Nakaya, as well as a planned monumental earthwork by artist Delcy Morelos.
Dib Bangkok – museum in a converted warehouse
Dib Bangkok appeared on the list because TIME said it contributed to Bangkok’s growing contemporary art scene.
The venue was described as a new museum presenting Thai and international works in a redesigned warehouse shaped by architect Kulapat Yantrasast.
