BANGKOK, THAILAND – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul voiced concern for residents along the Myanmar border after stray fire from heavy clashes landed on Thai soil and frightened local communities.
Dangerous bullets cross the border
Fighting in neighbouring Myanmar had escalated and put civilians in Thailand at risk. Stray bullets and grenades repeatedly landed in villages on the Thai side, shattering the sense of security among residents.
Anutin issued a sharp warning to those involved in the conflict and urged greater caution. He made clear that Thailand would not tolerate the war spilling over the border and endangering the lives of its citizens.
Diplomacy aims to protect civilians
The prime minister emphasised that the government used every diplomatic channel available to safeguard the frontier. Officials remained in constant contact with counterparts across the border in an effort to prevent further violations of Thai territory.
According to Anutin, fighters in Myanmar had assured Thailand that the cross‑border shots were unintentional and that the kingdom was not being targeted. Despite these assurances, the situation for the Thai population along the frontier remained extremely tense and dangerous.
Peace push for Thailand’s deep south
In the troubled south of the country, the government also sought new momentum. Anutin confirmed, with a nod, that a person had already been chosen to lead the next round of peace talks.
He kept the identity of this negotiator to himself for the time being, describing it as his secret. Further details on the plans for the southern border provinces were expected after a meeting of the National Security Council.
Economy weathers the severe crisis
Despite the unrest, there were more positive signals for the Thai economy. Experts at international rating agency Moody’s now assessed the country’s situation as significantly more stable than before.
Anutin welcomed the improved assessment and interpreted it as a strong sign for the future. A better ranking, he noted, could attract more investors and strengthen confidence in the financial resilience of the kingdom.
Investors show confidence in Thailand’s strength
The upgraded verdict from financial analysts demonstrated, in Anutin’s view, that Thailand’s economic foundation remained rock solid. He argued that this upward trend must now be used to drive the country forward.
With the new sense of stability, prospects for fresh foreign capital increased. Hundreds of companies and, ultimately, citizens across the country were expected to benefit from renewed investment flows.
