Thailand gears up for FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026

New regional tournament costs up to 3 million USD for broadcast rights — 98.9 million baht

THAILAND – Thailand prepares for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, a new regional tournament. FIFA may charge up to 3 million US dollars — around 98.9 million baht — for producing the live signal across 20 games.

The world football body wants countries buying broadcast rights to pay up to 3 million US dollars for the entire tournament’s production costs. That sum covers live broadcasts in Division 1 and Division 2.

Up to 3 million US dollars for 20 games

According to reports, FIFA plans to charge up to 3 million US dollars for the production costs of the whole tournament. The fee covers live broadcasts in both divisions.

In total, 20 matches are scheduled. The FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 runs from September 24 to October 3, during the FIFA Days window.

Thailand plays in Indonesia in Division 1

Fourteen teams take part in the new tournament. Division 1 will take place in Indonesia.

Group A features Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and invited team India. Thailand goes into Group B against Vietnam, the Philippines, and Pakistan — also invited.

Hong Kong hosts Division 2

Division 2 happens in Hong Kong. Group A includes Hong Kong, Myanmar, and Brunei.

Group B consists of Cambodia, Laos, and Timor-Leste. The group winners from each division advance directly to their division final.
