PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 23-year-old Thai tattoo artist filed a complaint after an alleged sexual assault outside a Pattaya studio and handed over CCTV footage as evidence.
Complaint after alleged assault outside studio
The woman, Kunsirisanjakorn Wannapong, reported the incident at around 9:30 p.m. on 11 March at the Mueang Pattaya Police Station. She alleged that a Russian tourist had grabbed her breast late in the evening after asking about tattoo prices.
According to her statement, the assault took place outside a tattoo studio in Soi Pattaya 5 on Pattaya Sai Song Road. She went to police soon after and submitted video from a nearby security camera.
CCTV said to show suspect and incident
The woman stated that CCTV footage from the security camera showed both the alleged assault and the identity of the suspect. The recordings also reportedly showed that the man did not arrive alone, but with two companions.
According to her, the group appeared to speak Russian among themselves. The video was given to investigators as part of her complaint.
Conversation about tattoo prices turned violent
Kunsirisanjakorn told officers she had been standing outside the studio smoking with colleagues when a man in a white T‑shirt and grey shorts approached her. He asked about prices, and she said she explained that tattoos started at 2,000 baht.
After a brief exchange with his friends, the man allegedly moved closer to her. She said his behaviour quickly changed from a routine price inquiry to unwanted physical contact.
From grabbing her arms to groping her chest
The tattoo artist said the suspect first grabbed her arms, which she initially misunderstood as interest in her tattoos. She only realised the situation was turning aggressive when he moved his hands.
She alleged that the man then suddenly groped her breasts. She said she immediately reacted and refused to accept the assault.
Victim fights back as group lingers nearby
According to the footage, Kunsirisanjakorn defended herself by hitting and kicking the man. He appeared to try to kick her as well, but she managed to dodge, the recordings reportedly showed.
The group initially stayed nearby, and the suspect kept trying to talk to her. She insisted on filing a complaint and referred to the video evidence, before one of his friends finally pushed him to leave and made a wai gesture while walking away.
Online pressure on police grows
The case triggered strong reactions on social networks, where many users demanded that investigators act decisively and take the complaint seriously. Comments focused on calls for a thorough and transparent investigation.
Some users also accused the police of responding too slowly when Thai nationals were victims of assaults, while allegedly handling cases with foreign victims more quickly. Social media discussions continued to pile pressure on authorities to pursue the matter.
