PATTAYA, THAILAND – A 59-year-old Swedish man was reportedly assaulted and injured late at night in Jomtien, according to rescuers and people close to him.
Emergency call shortly before 3 a.m.
The alarm reached the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Rescue Center at 2:49 a.m., reporting an injured person in Moo 13 on Wat Thammasamakkhi Soi 3. When emergency workers arrived, the man was already waiting in front of his accommodation and complained of severe pain.
Rescuers identified the victim as Mr. Magnus (59), a Swedish national, who had swelling to the head and lacerations on both knees. After initial treatment at the scene, he was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital for further care.
Evening started at bar near Rompho Market
A friend of the injured man, speaking anonymously, said that before the incident Mr. Magnus had been drinking alcohol in a beer bar area around the Rompho Market in Jomtien. Later, he reportedly rode his motorcycle in the direction of his accommodation.
According to the friend, the journey back was interrupted shortly before he reached home. The subsequent encounter allegedly led to the injuries that sent the tourist to hospital.
Confrontation outside massage shop escalated
On the way, a transgender woman allegedly spoke to him in front of a massage shop, stopped him and tried to invite him to continue partying. When the tourist refused, an argument reportedly broke out.
The friend stated that the woman then hit him on the back of the head with her hand, causing him to fall from the motorcycle, and that he subsequently received kicks to his legs. These blows were said to have resulted in the head swelling and wounds to his knees described by rescuers.
Escape on foot and help through friends
Out of fear, the man allegedly left his motorcycle behind and ran away on foot. He then found another way to return to his accommodation.
Once there, he contacted his friend, who eventually called the rescue services. Emergency workers then transported the injured tourist to hospital for more comprehensive medical treatment.
Police complaint expected after recovery
According to rescuers, a formal police report was expected once the man’s condition stabilized. They said he would likely file a complaint at the Pattaya City Police Station so investigators could document the incident and consider possible legal steps.
