SRI RACHA, THAILAND – A 51-year-old food delivery driver saw his only work vehicle, a Honda Wave motorbike, stolen in the early morning outside a fresh market, leaving him with mounting debts and a plea for public help while police pursued the suspect using CCTV footage.
Motorbike stolen outside fresh market
The theft occurred at about 6:40 a.m. on 23 February outside a fresh market in Moo 8 in Sri Racha district, Chonburi province, according to the victim. Driver Marut Jaeng-uam had parked his black and gray Honda Wave 100 with license plate 3 กผ 6340 Chonburi in front of the market to collect his first order of the day.
Moment of inattention leads to loss
By his own account, the delivery driver left the key in the ignition because he only intended to quickly pick up grilled fish and barbecued pork inside the market. When he returned a few moments later, the motorcycle and attached delivery box were gone.
CCTV images show suspect riding away
Immediately after the theft, Marut reviewed the market’s surveillance footage in search of clues to the suspect. The CCTV video showed a slim man of medium to tall height in a green shirt and long trousers circling the parked motorcycle, sitting on it and riding off toward the center of Sri Racha.
Police report filed, suspect still at large
With the video in hand, the delivery driver went to Sri Racha Police Station, where he filed an official complaint. The suspect had so far escaped and, according to police, remained at large.
Existential fears over debt and family income
Speaking to reporters, Marut described the situation as threatening his livelihood and said,
“This motorcycle is my only source of income, I have no other job and I support my family solely with delivery runs.”

He added that about 20,000 baht in financing was still outstanding on the vehicle and that he also had to pay installments for his work phone, rent, food and ongoing expenses.
Public appeal and vow to enter monkhood
The 51-year-old called on the public to report any observations about the suspect or the whereabouts of the Honda Wave to Sri Racha police without delay. As a personal vow, Marut said he would ordain as a Buddhist monk for three months if authorities arrested the thief and recovered his motorcycle.
