Sriracha, Thailand – A 40-year-old woman died after a white sedan collided with her motorcycle early on Tuesday on Kilometer-9 Road near the Tukcom intersection, and the car’s driver fled the scene, authorities and witnesses said.
Collision and emergency response
The crash happened at about 6:00am when the sedan struck the motorcycle ridden by Jatuporn Banyattinopparat, 40. Rescue workers from the Sawang Prateep Sriracha Rescue Unit and paramedics from Somdet Phra Boromrajthevi Hospital rushed to the site and worked for more than 20 minutes to stabilise the unconscious rider, but she was pronounced dead despite their efforts.
Apparent hit-and-run
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed the car did not brake before impact, witnesses said. Instead of remaining at the scene, the driver drove on. According to local accounts, the vehicle stopped briefly a few hundred metres away from the collision but then continued, a sequence of actions that left residents stunned.
Witness accounts
Shopkeeper Chanoknan Phrompool, 50, told reporters she saw the moments after the collision. ‘The woman had just bought some food and was heading back to the market when the car suddenly came from behind,’ she said. Another witness followed the fleeing vehicle and later provided police with information that authorities said would help their inquiries.
Investigation and police response
Investigators at the scene recovered debris and a licence plate believed to belong to the offending vehicle. Police Lieutenant Suchart Charoensri of Sriracha police station said officers would work swiftly to identify and apprehend the driver. ‘We will quickly find the driver and hold them legally responsible,’ he said.
Community reaction
The deceased was a valued employee of the Sriracha district office, and colleagues expressed deep shock and grief. Friends noted a tragic coincidence: she had been travelling without her mother that morning, a deviation from her normal routine. Authorities said they would continue to pursue leads as the community mourned the loss.
