SCB Tightens Mobile Banking Limits

New daily limits for digital transactions

The Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has tightened regulations for mobile and internet banking as digital transactions surge and the risk of fraud rises. Customers will now be subject to personalised daily limits on transfers, bill payments, top-ups, and international transactions. The new rules take effect on 20 September 2025.

Limits vary depending on customer profile, account history, and security level, and can be checked in the SCB EASY App under “Manage personal limit.”

Transactions affected by the limits

Most daily app-based transactions count toward the new limits, including:

  • Transfers to other SCB accounts

  • Transfers to other banks

  • Payments via PromptPay

  • Utility and service bill payments

  • Mobile and digital wallet top-ups (excluding certain prepaid cards like PLANET SCB)

  • International transfers

Cash withdrawals at ATMs or over-the-counter transactions are not included in the daily limits and may have separate restrictions.

How to increase your limit

Customers needing higher limits have two options:

Permanent increase: Submit income proof (salary slips, bank statements, or tax certificates) via the app. SCB will review within 24 hours, and approved limits are updated permanently.

Temporary increase: For urgent cases like medical emergencies, call the SCB Call Center (02-777-7777) to request a one-time limit rise, processed within three hours. After the transaction, the limit reverts to normal.

Why the changes matter

The measures aim to reduce financial risk and prevent fraudsters from moving large sums. Customers can still make larger transactions, but under safer, verified conditions.

SCB advises all users to check their personal limits before 20 September to avoid disruption to everyday banking and ensure smooth digital transactions.
