Authorities warned that the first waves could reach the coastline between 9:43 a.m. and 11:43 a.m. The alert covers several eastern coastal regions, and experts caution that the risk of further tremors and aftershocks remains high.

City governments in Davao City, General Santos City, and Sultan Kudarat City responded swiftly by ordering the closure of all schools and government offices. Classes at all levels were suspended, and public sector work was halted as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and minimize risk.

Officials emphasized that tsunami waves could persist for several hours. The National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council also warned of potential aftershocks and structural damage. Emergency teams remain on high alert, prepared to provide rapid assistance if needed.
