PHUKET, THAILAND – A special taskforce in Phuket carried out a targeted raid on a retail shop in Wichit, seizing untaxed cigarettes and detaining the shop operator in a move against the black market.

Officers on site reported a clear legal violation as the shop allegedly stocked untaxed cigarettes for sale. The manager or responsible operator was immediately detained.

The confiscated cigarettes were secured as evidence, and both the suspect and the seized goods were transferred to Wichit Police Station for further processing. Authorities stated that the operation formed part of a wider effort to counter economic offences on the island.

According to officials, the haul from the raid was substantial, with a total of 86 packs containing 1,710 individual cigarettes of various brands seized.
