PHUKET, THAILAND – Two tourists shocked locals by taking a naked walk down a busy street. While bystanders watched in disbelief, the pair calmly lit cigarettes. Police have remained silent, and online anger is boiling over.
Naked at the Roadside
The scandal took place yesterday, 28 April, in the Kata-Laemsai district. Images show the two foreigners without a single piece of clothing directly at the roadside.
A group of friends stood nearby – fully clothed. The naked individuals smoked cigarettes and ignored every attempt by horrified locals to bring them to reason.
“Don’t They Have Police Anymore?”
The footage spread rapidly through the Facebook page “Phuket Times.” Nearly 3,000 reactions and around 700 comments accumulated in a very short time.
Users are beside themselves:
“Why is the police silent?”
wrote one. Another user sneered:
“No punishment, they make a polite greeting and everything is fine.”
Many are demanding harsh consequences – from hefty fines to entry bans.
It’s Not the First Time
Phuket is experiencing a veritable wave of shameless acts. Just in September, a foreigner danced completely naked on the notorious Bangla Road.
Another naked man attacked a traffic police officer in Patong that same month. Additional officers had to restrain the raging man. There are also reports of a tuk-tuk ride where tourists exposed themselves to other road users.
Police Stay Silent – Perpetrators Often Go Unpunished
To this day, officers in Phuket have not issued a single official comment on the current case. Even for earlier incidents, it remained unclear whether any proceedings were initiated.
Online, the impression is hardening: whoever has enough money gets away with it.
“Put them on the blacklist,”
demanded a commenter – but many fear that this scandal too will remain without consequences.
Anger and Helplessness in Holiday Paradise
This case displays a deep contempt for the hosts. While the tears of shocked locals remain invisible, the perpetrators pose with their cigarettes for the camera.
An entire island is asking: How much disrespect will they still put up with – and when will the state finally step in?
