PATTAYA, THAILAND – City authorities approved extensive steps to tighten enforcement on beaches, in nightlife zones and on major roads to safeguard order, safety and the image of the resort city.
High-level meeting sets tougher course
In meeting room 231 at Pattaya City Hall, Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijjakarn chaired a session on 10 February with department heads, law enforcement and other municipal representatives to review the situation along beach areas and in entertainment districts. The discussion focused on managing Walking Street and surrounding zones, where the city aimed to create greater safety and reliability through visible official presence and consistent application of regulations.
Traffic rules and rental motorbikes under scrutiny
A key issue was the regulation of motorcycle rental businesses across the city, which were important for many visitors but could lead to traffic problems and conflicts if rules were unclear. Officials also reported ongoing work to renew road markings in Walking Street and Soi Arunothai 11, as well as obstacles in enforcing alternating parking rules along Pattaya South Road.
Deputy mayor demands strict, visible enforcement
Wuthisak urged attending officials to carry out their duties strictly in line with the law and not to overlook any problems that could affect public safety or the city’s tourist reputation.
“The work must be integrated across all units,”
said Wuthisak Rermkijjakarn, deputy mayor. According to him, enforcement of the rules had to be consistent, visible and continuous in order to build trust among residents and visitors.
Operations in districts and anti-drug efforts
City representatives reported recent deployments of municipal public order forces in Naklua, Pattaya and Jomtien, where they addressed violations in public spaces. Units responsible for public order and anti-drug control also presented their activities in key tourism zones, which were primarily aimed at prevention and at creating a tangible sense of security.
Long-term plan to protect image and public trust
According to municipal officials, the measures were designed to strengthen traffic discipline, better regulate public spaces and further enhance safety in central tourist areas. Pattaya City planned to continuously evaluate the results of the stricter controls and adjust its strategies to establish lasting order and reinforce public confidence.
