Pattaya, Thailand – Two Indian tourists reported to police that a woman they had met on Pattaya Beach stole more than 50,000 baht in cash from their hotel room and fled.
How the theft unfolded
The incident was reported to Pattaya City Police in the early hours of 23 October 2025 at about 1:06 a.m., when the two men, identified as Mr. Anower, 52, and Mr. Hasan, 38, spoke to officers through a translator. They told investigators they had met a woman on Pattaya Beach and invited her back to their hotel on Soi Beach Road 13/4 to relax.
According to their account, the woman asked to use the bathroom while they were in the room. When she returned she allegedly provoked an argument and then left in a hurry. Only after she had gone did the men discover that cash in Thai and foreign currency — totalling more than 50,000 baht (about €1,250) — was missing from their belongings.
The sum represents more than an average monthly wage in Thailand, and the tourists filed a report with police immediately.
Police response and investigation
Pattaya City Police said investigators have struggled to find clear leads. Surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the hotel produced no usable images of the suspect, and officers described the hunt as challenging without a solid description of the woman.
Detectives have interviewed other hotel guests and are canvassing the area for additional CCTV footage and witnesses. Authorities appealed to anyone with information to come forward to assist the inquiry.
Pattern of scams prompts warning
Police noted the case followed a recurring pattern in which criminals befriend tourists to gain access to rooms and valuables. “Be careful when making new acquaintances and always keep valuables secure,” Pattaya City Police warned, urging visitors not to leave money or important items out in hotel rooms.
The theft has left the two visitors out of pocket and shaken by the experience. Investigators said the search continues but acknowledged the limited evidence has made tracing the suspect difficult.
