PATTAYA, THAILAND – Over 30 police and investigators from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) raided the Badshah Club on Walking Street in the early hours, filing charges for operating without a license. The operation also targets potential violations related to foreign workers.
Raid on Walking Street
The search commenced at 3:00 AM at the Badshah Club in South Pattaya. The operation was led by Police Major General Thitthawat Suriyachai, Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2, and Flight Lieutenant Kittikom Kongsomphoch from the DSI. More than 30 officers from Pattaya City Police, Region 2 investigators, and other agencies were present. Authorities stated the move was part of intensified controls against unlicensed establishments.
How the Control Went in the Establishment
Officers stopped the music and turned on the lights before inspecting IDs, passports, and documents. Guests and staff were subsequently checked. Employees were separated and taken for further examination. Police collected papers and documentary material from the scene.
Many Guests, Many Nationalities
Inside the club, investigators encountered numerous foreign tourists, primarily of Indian nationality, along with Thai female patrons. The guests were dancing and socializing at the time of the inspection. Authorities also identified several Indian employees. Preliminary checks indicated these individuals possessed valid work permits and were legally employed.
Five Foreign Dancers Taken for Examination
On a stage, officers found five foreign women: one from Uzbekistan, three from Russia, and one from Georgia. These women were taken for detailed verification of their documents and employment status. The controls aimed to clarify whether regulations were violated in the employment of these dancers. Authorities reviewed papers and working conditions related to their employment.
Charges for Operation Without License and Further Investigations
Following the inspection, officers filed a charge against those responsible for operating an entertainment venue without a license. Specific names of those responsible were not immediately disclosed. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and are examining potential additional offenses related to the employment of foreign workers. Further legal action was announced if additional violations are discovered.
