The club manager, 35-year-old Mr. Bittuu, turned the disputed object over to police on October 1 for examination. Forensic checks by Pattaya City Police later confirmed the item was a luxury designer lighter and not a firearm, removing the immediate suspicion of a lethal threat.

On October 21 the two men met again in the presence of police and media and announced a settlement to the dispute. I was drunk and held the lighter thinking it was a real gun,” Mr. Rohit said through an interpreter.
Mr. Bittuu, who had previously told officers he knew the tourist, said the interaction had been meant as “playful teasing among acquaintances” and that there had been no intent to hurt anyone. The manager’s lawyer, Mr. Aniruj Kongsap, accompanied him to the police station, where authorities subsequently dropped the allegations.
